Employee Spotlight: Kenny Schepman

This is Kenny’s 11th year as a sales representative with Sims Crane covering the Orlando area, and 17th consecutive year with Sims Crane.  Kenny started as an apprentice in January of 1969.  “It was the day Nixon swore into office,” Kenny recollected, “and groundbreaking at Walt Disney World had just begun.”
In 1974 Kenny went to work as an operator in the phosphate mines at White Springs and spent much time travelling out west, returning to Sims Crane several times throughout his career when work was available.

According to Kenny, “the challenges” of finding unique jobsite solutions have brought him great satisfaction working in the crane industry, along with the satisfaction of training young operators.  Kenny has lead apprenticeship training at the Orlando IUOE Local 673 for 10 years now and takes pride in knowing how his training impacts the future of the crane industry.

Kenny Schepman guides local manager Thomas Baldree through the NCCCO course blind-folded using only voice commands at the Orlando area Sims Crane Safety Rodeo qualifier in January, 2011.

In his spare time, Kenny enjoys woodworking, outdoor sports with his grandchildren, xbox gaming and volunteering at his local church where he leads a Cub Scout Wolf Den along with his wife.
